Geography

Geography

At Manor Park, our Geography curriculum aims to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. We teach children about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.

The children learn to:

  • locate the world’s seven continents and five oceans.
  • understand geographical similarities and differences through studying the human and physical geography of a small area of the United Kingdom, and of a small area in a contrasting non-European country.
  • identify seasonal and daily weather patterns (in the UK and around the world)
  • use basic geographical vocabulary e.g. beach, cliff, coast, forest, hill, mountain, sea, ocean, river.

We consolidate learning by taking the children on visits to places such as Brakenhurst or the local area.
